Who doesn’t love pasta? Here are two recipes perfect for vegetarians and meat lovers alike! 

Bowtie Veg

A great recipe for Meatless Monday! This flavorful dish relies on slow-roasted garlic, red peppers and spinach in a light, creamy sauce.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 box of bowtie pasta
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • salt and pepper
  • olive oil

How To Do It:

  1. Add olive oil to a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Bring water to a boil and add pasta. Cook according to the instructions on the box.
  3. Add garlic and red peppers. Let these simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until soft.
  4. In a separate skillet, heat milk and butter over medium heat. For a creamier sauce, substitute heavy cream for milk. After three minutes, when butter is fully incorporated into liquid, reduce heat to low.
  5. Add cooked pasta and roasted veggies to the cream sauce. Blend all ingredients together.
  6. Enjoy!

Penne with Turkey Meatballs

A twist on a traditional classic, with fewer calories and saturated fat than ground beef meatballs.

What You Need:

Meatballs

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 3/4 cup italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 handfuls chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 gloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

Pasta

  • 1/2 box penne pasta
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

How To Do It:

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine breadcrumbs, ground turkey, egg, parsley, salt and pepper to taste, garlic and onion in a mixing bowl.
  3. Use your hands to combine all ingredients.

  1. Bring water to a boil and add pasta. Cook according to instructions on the box. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet on medium heat, add olive oil.
  3. Shape meatballs and place them in hot oil, turning continuously to brown on all sides.

  1. Place onto a baking sheet after browned (the insides will still be pink).
  2. Brush melted butter over browned meatballs Cover with a thin layer of garlic powder and parsley.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes or until fully cooked through.
  4. While meatballs are cooking, heat tomato sauce in a separate skillet on medium heat. You can add pre-made sausage to the sauce for extra flavor, but this step is optional. Add in cooked pasta and meatballs.
